On behalf of our team at HealthPlex Fitness, I want to welcome you to 2016! As you read this, being 72 hours into the New Year, you have undoubtedly had thoughts and visions of what you want to accomplish in 2016! And like most people, your health and fitness goals are right up there at the top! Losing weight, getting stronger, signing up for that 5k, fitting into those old jeans, competing in American Ninja Warrior(I'm in, who's with me?), whatever the goal you have may be, the New Year always brings it back to the forefront. As a fitness professional for almost 10 years, and working with the most knowledgable training team in the state day in and day out, I have learned a thing or two about achieving goals. I have seen countless people hit weightloss goals, pass certification tests, rehabilitate injuries and play sports again, and my personal favorite, able to open a pickle jar without a gripping aid (true story :)). Every goal, just like every person, is unique in its own way, but today I am going to share with you the #1 constant I've seen in every single person I have known to hit their goal. Are you ready? Here it is...
They knew, without a doubt, that they would do it!
If you were looking for a specific diet plan or exercise here, I do apologize. But this is true. It is not fancy or shiny or new. It is the constant positive attitude that you will achieve your goal no matter what obstacles appear in your way.
Any goal worth achieving takes fight, and takes discipline. You didn't achieve that promotion at work without putting in your time, even when you had to sacrifice watching your favorite show to prepare for a presentation.This is a small example, but your fitness and health takes the same fight, the same discipline.
So when you look at your goals for 2016, and you have that vision of what you want to accomplish in your 365 days, ask yourself...is this goal worth fighting for? If it is, awesome!! Go for it! But remember it won't be easy! There will be days when you won't want to train, or there is extra birthday cake in the conference room, or you get in a fight with your spouse, or it's snowing (it happens around here sometimes). When those days come, ask yourself...is it worth fighting for? Then tell yourself...I will do it! This is one of the most powerful things I have learned, and it works everytime.
Along with speaking positively towards yourself, you have to accept making changes to hit your goals. You might need to prepare your food the night before so you avoid eating out, or going to sleep earlier to train in the morning, or work with a fitness coach to get you on the right track! Change is never easy, so I am going to help you with this. Each week you will be hearing from myself and your coaches at HealthPlex Fitness on how to make this the fittest year of your life! Whether your goal is weight loss, strength gain, sports performance, rehabilitation, or healthy lifestyle, you will benefit from this feed.
