John Sardos, a fitness professional at HealthPlex Fitness, drew upon his experience as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Union College in Schenectady and his advanced degree studies to design a two-hour workshop for students athletes in all sports. It will be held at HealthPlex Fitness Center on Saturday, July 12 from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Pre-registration is required.
During the first part of the workshop, athletes will be coached on the importance of
proper movements, including stretching, activation, active warm up, linear and lateral
speed development, quickness, plyometrics (jumping) and core strengthening. The
second part of the workshop will be dedicated to the proper use of explosive
movements and strength exercises using Olympic lifts safely to benefit athletes.
